by Madison “Maddy” Boeder

When Maddy saw a fellow art student creating a bench for the Riverview Garden, she excitedly volunteered to paint another one. Maddy enjoys finding beauty in the outdoors and can often be found hiking at Seven Bridges trail in Milwaukee.
This bench design celebrates the garden with Impressionist style inspired by Claude Monet. Commonly seen in how she lays down color in her art, Maddy describes her artistic style as a blend of Impressionism and Realism.
Maddy was a junior at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) studying New Studio Practice with a minor in Art History when she created this piece in Summer 2024.
After completing her degree at MIAD, Maddy plans to pursue a Master in Fine Arts focusing on painting and art history. The future may find her teaching at the university level or working in museums.
